THE CENTAUR PROGRAM OF HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS
Over the years, HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS has developed The CENTAUR PROGRAM. From the beginning, we dreamed of enhancing the Lusitano's natural ability to be in harmony with his rider/owner.
We rejected some Brazilian farms practice of raising their Lusitanos more like cattle and decided to handle our Lusitanos from birth.
The result has been that the Lusitanos of HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS do not have a fear of being handled by humans. Instead, they exhibit a natural curiosity, willingness and docility toward their human counterparts.
At HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS, we feel that a solid foundation for mutual trust between horse and human has been created. As our Lusitanos mature and begin their training, they offer this willingness and trust to their riders and caregivers.
Because of The Centaur Program, we have found that training time under saddle goes much more quickly and without incident of bucking.
In addition, HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS selects their horses for their naturally docile temperaments. Excellent temperaments in stallions are the standard. Mares are chosen for docility, ease of breeding and foaling. But, all of our Lusitanos are selected and bred for utility under saddle, regardless of sex.
If you are looking for an exceptionally beautiful, athletic riding horse with a working attitude, you have found it. If you are looking for a companion of a lifetime, you have found it. The Lusitano is a horse of mythological characteristics, offering extreme intelligence, a focused mind, courage, docility and empathy toward their rider, all at the same moment.
No matter what your riding style, we look forward to sharing our belief that there is a Lusitano horse for every riding discipline and every rider. Their ability to perform under saddle is legendary. Come to Brazil, visit with us and experience our Lusitanos for yourself.

THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR US BUYERS
Have you thought about importing, but thought it was expensive? It is now amazingly affordable, when you factor in the savings from our Incentive Program for US Buyers.
Let's use the example of a Lusitano weanling. The average price of a quality Lusitano weanling in the US is around $15,000. If you take our introductory price for a weanling (around
$6,600), add importing costs (around $6,800), plus airfare to Brazil
($662 quoted on 4/20/04), you have spent closer to $14,000.
This allows you to come to Brazil, find your dream Lusitano and import it for less money than you would have spent in the US for a domestic bred weanling. As our client, you benefit from being able to travel to Brazil and personally hand pick a high quality Lusitano, just like the people who are supplying the US with Lusitanos.
At this time the people coming to Brazil and supplying the US with quality Lusitanos are the few US breeding farms, dressage trainers shopping for clients and other entrepreneur type individuals that have figured out that Brazil is a smart place to find a high quality Lusitano.
The Lusitano (Portuguese/Brazilian Andalusian) horse market is really small in the US compared to Spanish Andalusian market. People are going to the Andalusian shows and coming away asking where to find out about the Lusitano.
There is a real need for quality Lusitano stallions, mares, and saddle horses in the US. Lusitanos have already begun to make an impact in the International horse world, as superior athletes in dressage, reining, driving and jumping.
Brazil is the largest producer of Lusitanos in the world. The US will never have the numbers of quality Lusitanos that are available in Brazil. An imported, high quality Lusitano from Brazil is a solid investment for anyone wanting to buy for resale or start a breeding program.
Since breeding programs in the US have an understandable interest in keeping their “best” Lusitanos for their breeding program, it makes sense to come to Brazil to find that special high quality individual.
HARAS DA MANGUEIRAS is ready to enter the US market and be recognized for our high quality Lusitanos. This has motivated us to offer horses that we had not considered selling and at very competitive pricing.

WHY IMPORT A LUSITANO FROM BRAZIL?
Brazil is the largest producer of Lusitanos in the world. Many of Portugal’s premier
and legendary breeding stallions are now in Brazil. Brazil has the most vibrant
breeding program in the world. How this might be beneficial to you is very interesting and timely. As a potential
buyer of a Lusitano, it makes sense to make the best return on your investment that
you can.
The US market is in it’s infancy. It there was ever a time to become involved with a
breed that is becoming and going to stay popular, it is now. Recognition is growing in the US for the Spanish
Andalusian's cousin, the Portuguese or Brazilian Lusitano. The Lusitanos
calm mind, amazing athleticism and versatility are impressing people wherever they are lucky enough to see them.
People who go to shows to see the Spanish Andalusians
are coming away with an interest in the Lusitano, the Iberian that has been strictly been bred “for utility under
saddle” for over 100 years. The demand for high quality Lusitanos in the US exceeds the supply at this time.
Proven brood mares of quality bred to genetically potent breeding stallions in
Brazil, then imported to the US, should be on the mind of any potential US breeding
program. High quality young stallions and mares of valuable bloodlines as well.
In answer to these market trends, HARAS DAS MANGUEIRAS is willing to offer for sale
yearlings, mares ready to breed, proven mares with offspring at the farm, horses
ready to start under saddle and stallions under saddle from our quality herd. We are
offering our Lusitanos at prices that are competitive with US domestic bred
Lusitanos.
By competitive we mean that we are pricing our Lusitanos in a way that allows you to
come to Brazil, purchase one of our Lusitanos and import it to the US, for a price
that is competitive with buying a domestic bred Lusitano of the same quality in the
US.
For an introductory time only, we are offering our weanlings for around
$6,600. Horses older than a year are priced individually, but
competitively, to offset the cost of importation to the US, which is between $6-7K.
We also have Lusitanos of color for sale. Our 16.2HH black stallion,
Mel Or produces
bay, chestnut and black offspring, so far. In addition, he passes on his extremely
docile nature and a definite class to his babies.
